Getting There

  • Public Bus

    If you're near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, head to the bus terminal located just off the main roundabout. Look for the bus heading towards Osu. The fare is very affordable. Inform the conductor you want to get off at Independence Square. The square is a prominent stop and you shouldn't miss it. Once you get off, you’ll see the large monument and the flagpole.

  • Tro Tro

    Find a tro tro station close to you, such as at Accra Central or Osu. Board a tro tro heading towards 'Tema' or 'Labadi.' Ask the mate (assistant) to let you off at Independence Square. The tro tros are quite frequent, and the ride will take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. When you get off, you'll see the square immediately.

  • Walking

    If you're near Osu, walking to Independence Square is a fantastic option. Start at Osu Castle, walk down Castle Road towards the main road, then turn left onto Liberation Road. Continue straight for about 10-15 minutes until you reach Independence Square. You can’t miss it as it features a large monument and is a popular landmark.
