Princess Caroline's Battery, located at the northern end of the Upper Rock Nature Reserve in Gibraltar, offers a unique window into the territory's military history. Constructed in 1732 and named after Princess Caroline, the daughter of King George II, the battery played a role in the defense of Gibraltar. Over the years, the battery has been updated with features such as a 9-inch rifled muzzle loading gun in 1871 and a 6-inch Mark VII gun in 1905. Although decommissioned, the site's underground magazine now serves as the Military Heritage Centre, which displays relics from the 18th century to the present. Visitors can explore weapons, shells, and other artifacts, as well as the Memorial Chamber, which pays tribute to the regiments deployed to Gibraltar. Located near the Moorish Castle, the battery is accessible via Willis's Road and Queen's Road.
