Walking
Start your journey at the central square of Kavala, known as Eleftherias Square. From the square, head towards the waterfront promenade, following the path along the sea. Walk along the promenade until you reach the port area. Once at the port, look for the signs leading to the old town (Kastro). Ascend the hill via the stone-paved pathway, which will take you through charming narrow streets lined with traditional houses. After about 15-20 minutes of walking uphill, you will reach the castle of Kavala. From the castle, continue following the signs toward the Cross & fire lookout station. The lookout station is located approximately 1 km further up the hill. The path is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.
Public Transport (Bus)
From your location in Kavala, make your way to the central bus station located at the port area. Look for the local bus that heads towards the village of Palaiochori. Confirm with the bus driver or staff that the bus stops near the Cross & fire lookout station. Once you board the bus, enjoy the scenic ride through the hills. The bus will drop you off at a stop that is about a 15-minute walk from the lookout station. After getting off the bus, follow the signs or ask locals for directions. The final stretch involves a bit of uphill walking, but the views at the lookout will be worth the effort.
