Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the center of Kavala, head towards the waterfront area. Begin at the main square, Plateia Kapnergati. From there, walk towards the harbor along the coast. You will pass several cafes and shops. Continue walking along the waterfront promenade until you reach the end of the harbor. Next, look for signs directing you to the Old Town (Kastro). Ascend the hill towards the Old Fortress of Kavala. As you approach the fortress, you will see the Statue of Balkan War directly in front of you in the park area. The park is well-marked, and the statue is easily visible from the surrounding paths.

Public Transport
From the city center, you can take a local bus heading towards the Kastro area. Look for bus line numbers that go towards the direction of the Old Town or Kastro. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop closest to the Old Fortress. Once you get off, follow the signs towards the fortress. The Statue of Balkan War is located in a small park right outside the fortress entrance. It is a short walk from the bus stop.

If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle at one of the rental shops in the city center. Start your ride from Plateia Kapnergati and head towards the waterfront.
