From the center of Rethymno, walk to the central bus station located on Ethnikis Antistaseos Street. Look for the bus to Chania. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Chania, get off at the final stop. From there, you will need to catch another local bus heading towards Akrotiri. The bus stop is just outside the terminal. Ride the bus for about 20 minutes until you reach the Gouverneto Monastery stop. After getting off the bus, follow the signs that lead you up the hill to the monastery, which is a short 10-minute walk.

If you're near the old town of Rethymno, start at the Venetian Harbor. Head east along the waterfront promenade towards the bus station. This is about a 15-minute walk. Once you reach the bus station, you can catch the bus to Chania as described above.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Rethymno to Gouverneto Monastery. Simply ask the driver to take you to 'Gouverneto Monastery in Akrotiri.' The journey will take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic, and will provide you with a comfortable ride directly to the site.
