From the center of Rethymno, start at the Venetian Harbor. Head towards the main street, Ethnikis Antistaseos, and walk straight until you reach the traffic lights at the intersection with Arkadiou Street. Turn left onto Arkadiou Street and continue walking. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the Old Town area. Keep following the signs for the Old Town and look for the streets leading towards Chania. After approximately 10 more minutes of walking, you will arrive at Defkalionos Street. The Sabbionara Bastion is located at Defkalionos 9, a short walk down the street from the main square.

From the central bus station in Rethymno, take a bus heading towards Chania. The buses are frequent, so you shouldn't have to wait long. The journey to Chania takes about 30 minutes.
