Mount Qua Qua: A Rainforest Summit

Mount Qua Qua, situated within the Grand Etang National Park in the heart of Grenada, offers a rewarding hiking experience with stunning panoramic views. Rising to 722 meters (2,370 feet), it is among the island's highest peaks. The well-maintained trail allows hikers to traverse through verdant rainforest, leading to the summit where breathtaking vistas await. The hike typically takes around 2.5 to 3 hours round trip, beginning a short walk from the park's visitor center. While the trail is generally considered easy to moderate, some sections can be steep and slippery, especially after rain. The path winds through diverse tropical forest environments, offering glimpses of the Grand Etang Lake and the Atlantic Ocean. At the summit, hikers are rewarded with commanding views of the Grand Etang Crater Lake, formed by volcanic activity thousands of years ago. The vantage point also offers a panorama of Grenada's northeast coast and surrounding landscapes. Along the trail, keep an eye out for local wildlife, including Mona monkeys and various bird species.
