Walking

From the center of Sauteurs, Leapers Hill is easily accessible on foot. Head west along Main Street, passing local shops and eateries. Continue for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the beach. Turn right onto the beach road and walk for another 5-10 minutes until you see a sign for Leapers Hill on your left. The path to the top may be steep in places.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available in Grenada. From Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND), a taxi to Sauteurs will cost approximately $64 USD (170 XCD) and take around 45-60 minutes. From other locations in Grenada, taxi fares will vary depending on the distance. Taxis can drop you off near the entrance to Leapers Hill.

The name itself is derived from a tragic event in 1651 when the Carib people, faced with defeat by the colonizing French forces, chose to jump off the cliff rather than be captured and enslaved. This act of defiance has transformed Leapers Hill into a symbol of Grenadian resilience and the enduring spirit of freedom.Today, Leapers Hill offers visitors a chance to reflect on this pivotal moment in Grenada's history while enjoying panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. The site is located within the town cemetery, near St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and School. While a small museum once stood at the site, it is no longer in operation. However, informative plaques and the stories shared by local guides help to bring the history of the Carib people and their courageous act to life.Visiting Leapers Hill provides a unique opportunity to connect with Grenada's past and appreciate the natural beauty of the island.
