Getting There

  • Driving

    From the A.B. Wonpat International Airport, take Route 10A to Marine Corps Drive (Route 1). Turn left and proceed approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto Route 6 and travel about 4 miles. The Asan Bay Overlook will be on the right. Parking is free.

  • Public Transport

    From the nearest bus stop at Asan Beach Park, take Route 65 bus heading north towards Hagatna. Stay on the bus for approximately 15 minutes and get off near the intersection of Route 1 and Route 8. Walk about 0.3 miles along Route 8 to the left to reach the entrance to Asan Bay Overlook. Bus fare is approximately $2 per ride. Alternatively, from Dededo, take the bus heading south towards Hagatna for about 15-20 minutes. Disembark at the bus stop nearest to the intersection of Route 1 and walk south along Route 1 for about 0.5 miles.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available at hotels and major shopping centers. A taxi from Tumon to Asan Bay Overlook will cost approximately $8.00 to $10.00 to Hagatna, plus additional mileage to the site. The standard flag rate is $2.40, $4.00 for the first mile, and $0.80 every 1/4 mile thereafter.

Asan Bay Overlook, completed in 1994 for the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Guam, stands as a poignant memorial to those who lost their lives or endured atrocities during World War II. The overlook provides beautiful views of the seaside villages of Asan and Piti, offering an aerial perspective of the landing beaches used by U.S. Marines during the battle. The park features landscaped walkways that invite leisurely strolls, leading to a viewing platform adorned with historical photos. Commemorative bronze sculptures throughout the overlook depict significant events that occurred on Guam during the Japanese occupation from 1941 to 1944, and the Battle of Guam in 1944. The Memorial Wall lists the names of 1,880 U.S. servicemen who died on Guam during World War II, along with 1,170 Guam residents who perished and 14,721 who suffered atrocities during the occupation and battles. Asan Bay Overlook offers a solemn and peaceful space for reflection, allowing visitors to remember the fallen and contemplate the battlefields below. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with free parking available.
