Getting There

Boat
From any location around Lake Atitlán, you can take a boat to Panajachel, which is the closest town to Reserva Natural Atitlán. Look for the public boat service that operates frequently between villages. Once you arrive at the Panajachel dock, exit the boat and head towards the main street (Calle Principal).

Walking
After exiting the boat in Panajachel, walk along Calle Principal towards the west. Continue walking until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left path onto Calle 5 de Febrero. Keep walking for about 10-15 minutes until you reach a small junction. From there, follow the signs to 'Reserva Natural Atitlán', which will guide you along the path leading to the reserve. The entire walk should take approximately 25-30 minutes.

Tuk-Tuk
Alternatively, you can take a tuk-tuk (a small motorized taxi) from the dock in Panajachel directly to Reserva Natural Atitlán. After exiting the boat, look for the tuk-tuk drivers waiting near the entrance of the dock area. Negotiate the fare (usually around 10-20 quetzales) and ask the driver to take you to Antigua Finca San Buenaventura, which is where the reserve is located. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes.
