If you're traveling by car in Île-à-Vache, start from the main port area where you arrived. Head east along the main coastal road (Route Nationale 2) until you reach the intersection near the village of Les Cayes on the mainland. From there, take the ferry back to the mainland, which may cost around 50 HTG. Once on the mainland, follow signs to Fort Jacques, which is located about 15 km north of Les Cayes. The drive will take approximately 30 minutes, and you’ll need to pay for parking near the fort.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start at the main port in Île-à-Vache. Take a local bus or a shared taxi (tap-tap) back to Les Cayes on the mainland. The fare for this journey is typically around 50 HTG. Upon arriving in Les Cayes, find a tap-tap that is headed towards Fort Jacques, which are often found near the main market. The fare should be around 150 HTG per person. Once you arrive at Fort Jacques, it is a short walk to the entrance of the fort itself.
