Getting There

  • Public Transport

    If you are starting from Deák Ferenc tér, take the M1 (yellow line) metro towards Vörösmarty tér. Get off at the next stop, which is Vörösmarty tér. From there, walk to the bus stop located at the square and take bus number 16. This bus will take you directly to the Buda Castle area. Get off at Szent György tér, which is just a short walk to the Budapest History Museum located at Szent György tér 2.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Chain Bridge (Lánchíd), you can walk to the museum. Cross the bridge and head uphill towards the Buda Castle. Follow the signs to Szent György tér. Once you reach Szent György tér, the Budapest History Museum will be on your right at Szent György tér 2.

  • Tram

    From the Pest side, you can take tram number 2 from Jászai Mari tér towards Közvágóhíd. Get off at the stop called 'Március 15. tér'. From there, walk towards the Buda side across the Chain Bridge (Lánchíd). After crossing, follow the path uphill towards Buda Castle and look for signs leading to Szent György tér. The museum is located at Szent György tér 2.

  • Funicular

    If you are near the Chain Bridge, take the funicular from Clark Ádám tér, which is right next to the bridge. The funicular will take you up to Buda Castle. Once you arrive at the top, exit and follow the signs to Szent György tér, where the Budapest History Museum is located at number 2.
