If you're traveling by car, start from Gyöngyös city center. Head northeast on Kossuth Lajos utca towards Széchenyi utca. Continue straight onto Rákóczi út, which will take you out of the city. Follow signs for the Mátra Mountains, taking route 24. After approximately 7 km, turn onto Unnamed Road, which leads directly to Máriácska. The destination will be on your right. Parking may be limited, so look for designated areas.
Public Transportation
To reach Máriácska via public transport, take a train from Budapest to Gyöngyös. The journey typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Gyöngyös, exit the train station and walk to the local bus station (approximately a 10-minute walk). From there, catch Bus 8 towards Mátrafüred. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes and get off at the stop closest to Máriácska. You might have to walk a short distance (about 1 km) along Unnamed Road to reach the shrine.
Taxi or Ride-sharing
If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi or a ride-sharing service from Gyöngyös. This option provides a convenient door-to-door service. It should take about 15-20 minutes to reach Máriácska from the city center, depending on traffic. The cost will vary, but expect to pay around 3,000 HUF (approximately 8-10 USD).
