Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Budapest and take the M2 highway towards Váci út. Continue on the M2 and follow the signs for Esztergom/Nagymaros. After approximately 50 km, take the exit for Nagymaros. Once you reach Nagymaros, follow the signs towards the Pilis Mountains. Hegyes-tető is situated about 4 km from the town center. You can park your car near the hiking trailhead on the outskirts of Nagymaros. Please note that parking may not be free, and you should check local signage for any applicable fees.
Public Transportation
To reach Hegyes-tető by public transportation, take a train from Budapest to Nagymaros. The journey typically takes around 1 hour. Check the train schedules on the MÁV-Start website or app for the latest times. Once you arrive at Nagymaros train station, exit the station and head towards the town center. You will find signs directing you to Hegyes-tető. It is about a 4 km walk from the station to the trailhead. There may be local buses available, but they may not run frequently, so it's best to check the local bus schedule. Train tickets cost approximately 1,500 HUF for a one-way trip.
Hiking
If you are already in the Pilis Mountains and want to hike to Hegyes-tető, find the nearest trail that connects to the main hiking routes. The most common route starts from the town of Nagymaros. Head towards the Hegyes-tető hiking trail, which is well-marked. The hike itself is around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you wear good hiking shoes and carry enough water, as it can be steep in parts.
