Walking
From the center of Húsavík, head south on Þingvalla street towards the harbor. Walk along the waterfront until you reach the bus station (Húsavík Bus Terminal). From there, you can take a bus towards Mývatn, which will get you closer to Krafla. The journey will take approximately 1.5 hours.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Húsavík. Start by heading south on Þingvalla street and then follow the road that leads towards the east out of town. Continue riding along the main road (Route 87) until you reach the junction with Route 1. Follow Route 1 to the east until you reach the signs indicating Krafla. The total distance is around 50 kilometers, so plan for a long ride.

From Húsavík, you can take the public bus service towards Mývatn. Make your way to the Húsavík Bus Terminal and check the bus schedule for the next departure. Once you board, inform the driver that you wish to go to Krafla. The bus will take you on a scenic route, and you'll need to disembark at the stop closest to Krafla. Be sure to ask the driver for directions to the crater lake upon arrival.
