Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Hallgrímskirkja church, exit the church and head south on Skólavörðustígur street. Continue straight until you reach Hlemmur bus terminal, then take a right on Laugavegur street. Walk down Laugavegur until you reach the intersection with Frakkastígur, take a left. Continue until you reach the end of Frakkastígur and turn right onto Tjarnargata. The Althingi garden is located at the end of Tjarnargata, just across from the lake Tjörnin.

    If you are starting from the Harpa Concert Hall, exit the building and walk towards the waterfront. Follow the path along the water towards the city center. When you reach the bridge over the Tjörnin lake, cross it and continue straight. You will see the Althingi garden on your left side as you approach the Parliament building.

    From the Sun Voyager sculpture, head east along the waterfront until you reach the intersection with Laugavegur street. Turn left and walk up Laugavegur until you reach the intersection with Frakkastígur. Turn right on Frakkastígur and continue until you reach Tjarnargata. Turn right onto Tjarnargata, and the Althingi garden will be at the end of the street.

    If you are at the Reykjavik City Pond (Tjörnin), simply walk around the pond towards the northwest side. The Althingi garden is located directly across from the pond, adjacent to the Parliament building. You can easily access it from the walking paths around the pond.
