Hellisskógur: A Serene Oasis in Iceland's Natural Landscape

Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the center of Selfoss, near the main square. Head north on Aðalstræti street until you reach the intersection with Gagnheiði street. Turn left onto Gagnheiði and continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Sigtún street, which will lead you towards the outskirts of Selfoss. As you walk, you will see a sign for Hellisskógur. Continue straight until you reach an unnamed road (W2V4+WJR). Turn right here, and you will find the entrance to Hellisskógur. The park is accessible on foot from this road.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, start from the center of Selfoss and ride north on Aðalstræti street. At the intersection with Gagnheiði street, turn left and continue until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Sigtún street and follow it towards the outskirts. Look for signs indicating Hellisskógur. Once you reach the unnamed road (W2V4+WJR), turn right and cycle straight until you arrive at the park entrance.

• Public Transport

  From the center of Selfoss, take a local bus that heads towards the outskirts of town. Check the local bus schedule for routes heading towards the area near Hellisskógur. You will want to disembark at a stop nearest to Sigtún street. From there, walk north until you reach the roundabout and take the second exit onto Sigtún street. Continue walking until you reach the unnamed road (W2V4+WJR), then turn right to access Hellisskógur.
