Getting there

Car

If you are driving, start from the town of Ólafsvík, located on the north side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Head south on Route 54. After approximately 25 km, take the exit towards Route 56. Follow Route 56 for about 14 km until you reach the intersection with Route 57. Turn left onto Route 57 and continue for another 8 km. Once you reach Vatnaleið, take a right turn and follow the road for about 1 km until you see the Selvallafoss waterfall on your left. There is a small parking area nearby.

Public Transportation

Using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavík to Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Buses operated by companies such as Sterna or Strætó run regularly. You will likely want to get off at the town of Ólafsvík. From Ólafsvík, you will need to arrange for a taxi or a local shuttle service to reach Selvallafoss, as public transport does not directly serve the waterfall. The taxi ride will take approximately 20 minutes and will cost around 5,000 ISK to 7,000 ISK. Ensure you pre-book your taxi for a smoother experience.

Hiking
