Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Kanniyakumari, start from the nearest city such as Madurai or Trivandrum. From Madurai, take the NH-44 towards Nagercoil and continue on NH-66 to Kanniyakumari. The journey is approximately 4.5 hours (around 250 km). If you're coming from Trivandrum, take the NH-66 directly towards Kanniyakumari, which takes about 2 hours (around 90 km). Parking is available near the beach.

• Bus

  Various state-run and private buses operate to Kanniyakumari from major cities in Tamil Nadu, like Chennai, Madurai, and Nagercoil. Book your tickets in advance, especially during weekends and holidays. The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has regular services. The bus journey from Madurai to Kanniyakumari takes around 5 hours, while from Chennai, it can take approximately 10 hours. Buses drop you off at the Kanniyakumari bus stand, which is close to the beach.

• Train

  Trains connect Kanniyakumari with major cities across Tamil Nadu. The Kanniyakumari railway station is well-connected. If you're coming from Madurai, take a train like the Kanniyakumari Express, which takes about 4 hours. From Chennai, the journey can take around 12 hours. Upon arrival at the station, you can take an auto-rickshaw or taxi to reach the beach area (approximately 5 km). Ensure you check the train schedules in advance.

• Taxi/Auto-rickshaw

  Once you arrive in Kanniyakumari, you can use taxis or auto-rickshaws to navigate around. The auto-rickshaw fare to popular local attractions is generally affordable, but make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand or ask for the meter to be used. For example, a ride from the railway station to the beach might cost around ₹50-₹100.
