Getting There

• Private Car

  From Tawang town, head southwest on the Chariduar - Tawang Road. The road is well-maintained but be cautious of mountain roads and potential landslides. Sela Pass is approximately 35 km from Tawang and will take around 1 to 1.5 hours by car. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. Be sure to stop at the Sela Lake viewpoint, which is a popular spot for photographs.

• Shared Taxi

  In Tawang, you can find shared taxis that operate to Sela Pass. Head to the main taxi stand in Tawang, typically located near the market area. Ensure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it usually costs around INR 600-800 per person. The journey will take about 1 to 1.5 hours, following the same route as a private car. The shared taxi will drop you off at Sela Pass, where you can explore the area.

• Public Bus

  Although less frequent, there are buses that operate from Tawang to Sela Pass. Check the local bus schedule at the Tawang bus station. The bus ride is cheaper, typically around INR 100-150, but it may take longer (up to 2 hours) due to stops along the way. Make sure to ask the conductor about the Sela Pass stop to avoid missing your destination.

  For the adventurous, consider renting a motorbike in Tawang. Several rental shops are available, and the cost is usually around INR 500-700 per day.
