Getting There

• Car

  From Maquoketa Caves State Park, exit the park and turn left onto T45 / 185th St. Continue for about 3.5 miles until you reach US-61. Turn left onto US-61 South and drive for approximately 27 miles. As you approach Dubuque, take the exit for US-151 South toward Dubuque. Merge onto US-151 and continue until you reach the intersection with 3rd St. Turn right onto E 3rd St, and the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium will be on your right at 350 E 3rd St, Dubuque, IA 52001. There is parking available nearby, which may incur a fee.

  From Maquoketa Caves State Park, you will first need to arrange for a taxi or ride-share service to the nearest public transportation hub in Dubuque. Once in Dubuque, you can take the local bus service. Specifically, look for the DART (Dubuque Area Rapid Transit) bus. Check the DART website for routes that go towards E 3rd St. Get off at the nearest stop to the museum, which is typically close to the intersection of E 3rd St and the waterfront area.
