    The Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center is located at 4500 Sioux River Rd, Sioux City, IA 51109. From I-29, take exit 151 and head west on State Road 12. Follow the signs for Stone State Park and the Nature Center. Parking is available in the center's lot. Be aware that the gates to the main parking lot are locked when the building is closed; an overflow lot is available below the gate for after-hours access to the trails. There are no parking fees.

Discover the wonders of the Loess Hills at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center, an award-winning educational facility located within Stone State Park in Sioux City, Iowa. This 14,000-square-foot center serves as a gateway to understanding the natural and cultural resources of the region. Inside, interactive exhibits showcase the area's unique geology, prairie, wetland, and woodland ecosystems. Observe live native reptiles, fish, and birds of prey, including a red-tailed hawk and barred owl in the outdoor Raptor House. Outside, explore over three miles of hiking trails that connect to more than 10 miles of trails within Stone State Park. The trails wind through wooded forests and over steep prairie ridges, offering stunning views and opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife observation. A popular destination for kids is the Discovery Forest Nature Playscape, which features a tree fort and other natural play elements. The Nature Center is also located near where the Lewis and Clark Expedition passed through in 1804. Admission is free, making it an accessible destination for all.
