Public Transport - DART Train
From Dublin Castle, walk to the nearest DART station, which is Pearse Station. Head southeast on Pearse Street towards Westland Row and turn left onto Westland Row. Continue walking until you reach Pearse Station (approximately 10 minutes). At Pearse Station, purchase a ticket to Dun Laoghaire. Board the DART train heading towards Bray and disembark at Dun Laoghaire station. The train ride takes about 20 minutes. From Dun Laoghaire Station, take the exit onto Railway Road and walk towards the seafront. From the seafront, continue walking along the coast to Sandycove (approximately 25 minutes). You will arrive at Sandycove Castle at 9 Sandycove Ave W.

Public Transport - Bus
From Dublin Castle, walk to the nearest bus stop at Clanbrassil Street (approximately 5 minutes). Catch Bus 7 or 7A towards Dun Laoghaire. You can pay your fare on the bus (around €2.00). The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the stop called 'Sandycove, Sandycove Avenue' and walk towards Sandycove Castle, which is about a 5-minute walk from the bus stop. You will find Sandycove Castle located at 9 Sandycove Ave W.

Walking
If you prefer to walk, it is a longer trek but quite scenic. From Dublin Castle, head south on Castle Street towards Lord Edward Street. Continue straight until you reach the River Liffey and cross over at O'Connell Bridge. Once across, turn left along the river and follow the river path until you reach the intersection with Baggot Street Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue along the river until you reach the Grand Canal. Follow the canal south until you reach the DART line. At this point, turn right onto the DART line and head towards Sandycove. This walk is approximately 1.5 hours and covers a distance of around 6 kilometers, but you'll enjoy beautiful views along the way.
