Getting there

Walking

From Killarney town center, head south on Main Street towards the junction with East Avenue Road. Continue straight, and you will reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the Muckross Road (N71). After about 700 meters, keep left to stay on N71, which leads toward Muckross House. Walk for approximately 1.5 km until you reach the entrance to Killarney National Park. From here, continue straight along the path through the park, enjoying the scenic views. Follow the signs directing you towards Ballycasheen. After about 2 km, you will arrive at Pike Wood located in Ballycasheen.

Public Transport

From Killarney town center, take Bus Eireann route 40 towards Tralee. Get off at the Ballycasheen stop. Once you alight the bus, head south on Ballycasheen Road. Continue walking straight for about 1 km, and you will arrive at Pike Wood. The walk will take you through the charming surroundings of the area.

Cycling

If you have access to a bicycle, rent one from a local shop in Killarney. Start at the Killarney House and Gardens and head southwest along the scenic cycle paths. Follow the signs towards Muckross, and then take the N71 towards Ballycasheen. The total distance is around 3 km, and the route is mostly flat, making it a pleasant ride. Once you reach Ballycasheen, you will find Pike Wood nearby.
