Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city, Jerusalem. Take Highway 1 (Jerusalem-Tel Aviv road) and then merge onto Route 90 heading south towards the Dead Sea. Continue on Route 90 for approximately 30 kilometers. After passing the town of Ein Gedi, look for signs directing you towards Qumran National Park. The entrance is located at 1 Kalya, approximately 3 kilometers north of the Dead Sea. There is a parking area available at the park entrance. Note that a small entrance fee is required, which is usually around 28 shekels per adult.

Public Transportation
To reach Qumran National Park using public transportation, take a bus from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. Egged bus company operates routes to the Dead Sea area. You can catch bus number 486 from the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem. The journey takes around 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Dead Sea area, disembark at the Qumran stop. From there, it is a short walk of about 1 kilometer to the park entrance. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as service frequency may vary, especially on weekends.

If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi or using a rideshare app from Jerusalem. This option will be more expensive, typically costing around 300-400 shekels, but it offers convenience and a direct drop-off at the park entrance. It’s advisable to negotiate the fare or confirm the estimated rate through the app before starting your journey.
