    Getting There

    Funicular

    If you are in the lower part of Bergamo (Bergamo Bassa), head to the Funicolare San Vigilio. You can catch the funicular from Viale Vittorio Emanuele II, which is a short walk from the city center. The funicular will take you up to the upper city (Bergamo Alta). Once you arrive at the upper station, exit the funicular and walk straight ahead towards the historic area. Follow the signs toward Piazza Duomo, which is about a 10-minute walk from the funicular station.

    Bus

    From the city center, you can take the bus line 1 or 1A from the stop 'Piazza Matteotti'. The bus will take you directly to 'Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe', which is near the entrance to the upper city. Once you get off the bus, walk towards the old city walls and follow the path leading to Piazza Duomo. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop to the piazza.

    Walking

    If you prefer to walk, start at the lower city center (Piazza della Libertà). Head towards the Città Alta by following the signs for 'Città Alta' or 'Upper Town'. It will take approximately 30 minutes to walk uphill to Piazza Duomo. The route is uphill, but it’s a scenic walk through historic streets. Once you reach the top, continue straight until you reach Piazza Duomo.
