Train
From Bergamo, head to the Bergamo train station (Stazione di Bergamo) using public transport. You can take either the bus number 1 or the funicular railway to reach the train station. Once there, purchase a ticket to Varenna-Esino. The train journey will take approximately 1 hour. Upon arrival at Varenna-Esino station, exit the station and follow the signs towards Varenna. It’s a short 10-minute walk downhill towards the lake, where you will arrive at the beautiful waterfront of Varenna.

Bus
Take the bus from Bergamo to Varenna. Start at the Bergamo bus station (Stazione Autolinee di Bergamo) located near the train station. Look for the bus line that goes to Varenna; typically, the bus to Varenna will take around 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Varenna, the church is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop. Head towards the lakefront and walk along the main streets until you reach Contrada della Filanda, where Chiesa di San Giorgio is located.

Ferry
If you prefer a scenic route, you can take a ferry from Bellagio or Menaggio. First, travel to either Bellagio or Menaggio from Bergamo by train or bus (to Varenna-Esino, then ferry). Once you arrive in either town, board the ferry towards Varenna. The ferry ride offers beautiful views of Lake Como. After disembarking in Varenna, walk towards the main street and follow signs to Contrada della Filanda, where you will find Chiesa di San Giorgio.
