Car
If you are driving from the center of Cortina d'Ampezzo, head south on Corso Italia towards Via Cadorna. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach the junction with Via Duca d'Aosta. Turn left onto Via Duca d'Aosta and continue for another 1 km. Look for signs indicating the direction to the Dolomites and Cortina's hiking trails. After about 4 km, you will arrive at the trailhead for Sentiero Dolomieu, located at the coordinates G5JF+X8, which is a popular access point for hikers.
Public Transportation
From the main bus station in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Piazzale Marconi), take the local bus service that heads towards the Dolomites. Look for the bus line that goes to 'Cinque Torri' or 'Passo Falzarego', as these will bring you closer to Sentiero Dolomieu. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes and costs around €2.50. Once you get off at the closest stop, you may need to walk approximately 15-20 minutes to reach the trailhead at G5JF+X8.
Walking
If you are already in the town center and prefer to walk, start your journey by heading south on Corso Italia. After about 1 km, take a right onto Via Cadorna, and continue walking until you reach the junction with Via Duca d'Aosta. From there, continue straight, following the signs for hiking trails. The total walking distance is approximately 5 km from the center of Cortina d'Ampezzo to Sentiero Dolomieu, which should take around 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace.
