Constructed around 1529 for Giovan Paolo Gigli, the palace was designed by Nicolao Civitali and is notable as the oldest palace in Lucca featuring a Florentine-style internal courtyard. The site was historically significant, once housing the Lombard Royal Court and the mint that produced Lucca's famous gold tremisse.The palace's architecture showcases its Renaissance origins, with an elegant doorway framed by two columns and windows adorned with carved frames. Inside, the first floor retains the Gigli family crest on the wooden inlaid ceilings. The palace remained in the Gigli family until 1661, after which it was acquired by the Lucchesini family. Since 1893, it has been the seat of the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca.Today, Gigli Palace attracts visitors with its stunning façade and well-preserved structure.
