    From Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, head towards Via dell'Anfiteatro, continuing straight until you reach Via Fillungo. Turn right and walk along Via Fillungo for about 400 meters, then turn left onto Via Santa Giustina. The Orsetti Palace will be at number 17 on your left. Walking within Lucca's walls is generally easy and preferred.

    Palazzo Orsetti, or Palazzo Diodati Orsetti, offers a captivating journey into Lucca's rich past. Constructed in the 16th century by the Diodati family upon medieval foundations, the palace stands as a testament to the city's enduring heritage. The palace was later purchased in 1661 by the Orsetti family, who owned it until 1963, when it was sold to the Municipality of Lucca. Today, Palazzo Orsetti serves as a municipal building, housing the offices of the mayor and city council. The palace's architecture features two grand sandstone portals, one adorned with a relief and the other with a mermaid. Inside, visitors can admire elegant 19th-century wall paintings on the ground floor and opulent rooms on the first floor. Highlights include the Mirrors Room, once a ballroom and now a meeting room, and the Music Room, known for its exceptional acoustics and adorned with an 18th-century chandelier. The Green Room, formerly a living area, now hosts civil weddings. Surrounding the palace is a serene garden enclosed by high walls, providing a peaceful retreat with lush trees and a central well.
