Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From Matera, start at the main bus station (Piazza della Libertà). Take the bus heading towards Bari. Look for the 'SITA' or 'Ferrovie del Sud Est' buses which service this route. You will need to ask the driver to let you know when you reach Ruvo di Puglia, which is the nearest town to Alta Murgia National Park. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Ruvo di Puglia, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the park entrance.

  • Train

    From Matera, walk to the Matera Centrale train station. Purchase a ticket for the train heading towards Bari. After about 30 minutes, disembark at the Ruvo di Puglia train station. Upon exiting the train station, you can either walk to the entrance of Alta Murgia National Park, which is approximately 4 km away, or take a taxi. If walking, head northwest on Via Roma, turn left onto Via Aldo Moro, and follow the signs leading towards the park.
