Poggio Rubino: A Taste of Montalcino

Nestled in the heart of Montalcino, Poggio Rubino offers an intimate glimpse into the world of Brunello di Montalcino. This family-managed winery combines tradition and passion in every bottle, offering visitors a chance to experience the essence of Tuscan winemaking. The winery's history began with Giovanni Corsi's passion for producing wine in the 1950s. In 1997, his grandson Edward Corsi, with the help of his grandmother, purchased a small parcel of land to develop his own production. Alessandra Marzocchi, an agronomist, joined him, leading to the creation of the company and the acquisition of land at San Prospero. Today, Poggio Rubino is run by Edward, Alessandra, and Alessandra's mother, Roberta Salvadori. A visit to Poggio Rubino includes guided tours of the vinification and aging cellars, where the winemaking process is explained. Guests can enjoy seated tastings of estate wines, paired with local cheese and cured meats. The tasting room offers stunning views of the valley, vineyards, and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Poggio Rubino is known for its Brunello di Montalcino, as well as its Rosso di Montalcino. The winery also provides the opportunity to taste old vintages, appreciating the aging and evolution of Brunello wines. Poggio Rubino's vineyards are located in different areas of Montalcino, each with unique characteristics. These include Campo del Prete, San Prospero, La Sorgente, and The Bogatto vineyard. The southwest location and marly terrain contribute to the health and quality of the grapes.
