A 5km ride in Portmore costs about 2800 JMD. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Some taxis may accept USD, but it's best to have Jamaican dollars for payment.

Public Transport

To reach Waves Beach via public transport from Portmore, take a bus heading towards Hellshire. The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) operates buses in the area. The bus ride will take you to Hellshire main road, from which you can walk for approximately 0.5 kilometers (0.31 miles) to Waves Beach. Bus fares are typically around $1 USD. Be prepared for a potentially crowded ride, especially during peak hours.

Driving

If you're driving from Kingston, take the Mandela Highway to the Portmore leg, then continue onto the Hellshire main road. Follow the signs towards Hellshire Beach. Once you reach Hellshire, turn onto Sand Drive. Waves Beach will be on your left at 190 Sand Drive. Parking is generally available along the side of the road. Be aware that during busy periods, parking can be limited, and informal parking attendants may assist you in finding a spot. It is customary to tip these attendants.
