Experience Wakayamajo Park

Getting There

  • Car

    From the Kumano Kodo area, take the Route 42 heading north towards Wakayama. Continue on this road for approximately 1.5 hours until you reach the city center of Wakayama. Once you arrive in Wakayama, follow signs for Wakayama Castle. The park is located at 3 Ichibancho, Wakayama, 640-8146. There is parking available nearby, but please note that parking fees may apply.

  • Public Transportation

    From the nearest station in Kumano Kodo, take the local train to Kii-Katsuura Station. From Kii-Katsuura Station, transfer to the JR Kisei Line and head to Wakayama Station. This trip will take about 2.5 hours. Upon arriving at Wakayama Station, exit the station and take bus number 16 or 17 towards Wakayama Castle. The bus ride will take around 10 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Wakayama Castle' and walk to 3 Ichibancho, Wakayama, 640-8146. A bus fare of approximately 230 yen will be needed.

    If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from your location in Kumano Kodo to Wakayama Castle. The taxi ride will take about 1.5 hours and will cost approximately 15,000 to 20,000 yen depending on your starting point.
