Getting There

Walking
From the center of Kerak, head east towards the main road (King Abdullah Street). Walk along this road for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the Madaba road. Continue straight on this road, following the signs towards Madaba. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will reach a bus stop. Here, you can catch a local bus heading to Madaba.

Once you're on the bus to Madaba, stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop closest to the Fortress of Machaerus. The bus will drop you off near the entrance to the fortress area. From the bus stop, walk up the hill for about 10 minutes to reach the fortress.

Taxi (if needed)
If you prefer, you can take a taxi from Kerak to the Fortress of Machaerus. Simply ask a local for a taxi or use a ride-hailing app if available. The journey will take around 25 minutes, and you can ask the driver to drop you off directly at the entrance of the fortress.
