Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Paola, KS. Head east on W Piankeshaw St toward N Silver St. Turn left onto N Silver St, then take a right onto E 4th St. Continue on E 4th St which becomes Kansas 68 Hwy. Follow KS-68 E for approximately 8 miles until you reach the intersection with Hillsdale Rd. Turn left onto Hillsdale Rd and follow the signs to Hillsdale State Park. The park entrance will be on your left.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Paola to the nearest larger city with transit options, such as Olathe or Overland Park. Once in Olathe, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service (such as Uber or Lyft) to take you the remaining distance to Hillsdale State Park, which is about 20 miles away. Be aware that this may incur additional costs for taxi or rideshare services, typically ranging from $25 to $40 depending on demand and time of day.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can access the park via the same route as motorists. Start in Paola and follow the same directions to KS-68 E. Note that this route does not have dedicated bike lanes, so exercise caution while biking along the highway. Ensure you have proper safety gear and check the weather before you start your ride.
