Getting There

• Public Bus

  To reach the Kentucky Derby Museum from Elizabethtown, take the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) bus. First, find your way to the nearest TARC bus stop. You may need to take a local taxi or ride-sharing service to a nearby stop if there is no direct access. Once at a TARC stop, board the bus heading toward Louisville. You will need to transfer buses at either the downtown Louisville stop or the closest bus terminal if required. Follow the route closely, and disembark at the stop nearest to Churchill Downs. From there, it’s a short walk to the Kentucky Derby Museum at 704 Central Ave.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Elizabethtown. Start your journey heading southeast on US-31W. Follow the road as it leads toward Louisville, which is approximately 40 miles away. Make sure to use bike lanes where available and follow all traffic signals. Upon reaching Louisville, navigate towards Central Avenue where the Kentucky Derby Museum is located. Be cautious of traffic as you approach the museum.

• Walking

  Walking from Elizabethtown to the Kentucky Derby Museum is quite a long journey, approximately 40 miles, which may not be feasible for most tourists. However, if you are determined and in good shape, start from the center of Elizabethtown and head southeast on US-31W. This route does not have sidewalks for the entire distance, so be cautious and aware of traffic. Once you reach Louisville, head towards Central Avenue. Follow the signs directing you to Churchill Downs, and you will find the Kentucky Derby Museum at 704 Central Ave.
