Getting There

  • Bicycle

    From Diani Beach, head south on the main Diani beach road towards the Kwale County. After about 5 km, you will reach a junction at the Mombasa - Nairobi Highway (A104). Turn left onto the highway and continue for about 2 km until you reach the entrance of Shimba Hills National Reserve. Follow the signs to the reserve entrance.

  • Matatu (Public Minibus)

    From any point in Diani Beach, find a matatu heading towards Ukunda. Once in Ukunda, transfer to a matatu heading to Shimba Hills. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the entrance of Shimba Hills National Reserve. The ride will take around 30 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Walking

    If you are close to the main road, walk towards the Mombasa - Nairobi Highway (A104). Once you reach the highway, you can either continue walking to the entrance of Shimba Hills National Reserve, which is about 7 km from Diani Beach, or wait for a matatu to catch a ride there.
