Getting there

Car

If you are driving from Lamu Town, head south on the main road (Mokowe Road) towards Mokowe. After approximately 15-20 minutes, you will reach the junction where you can either continue straight or take a left towards Waridi Beach. Follow the signs for Waridi Beach. The road may become less maintained as you approach the beach. Keep your vehicle on the main path until you reach the beach entrance. Parking is usually available near the beach.

Public Transportation (Matatu)

From Lamu Town, head to the Matatu (shared taxi) station located near the main market. Look for a Matatu that is headed towards Mokowe. The ride should take about 20-30 minutes, and the fare is typically around 100-200 Kenyan Shillings. Once you arrive in Mokowe, you can either walk (about 30 minutes) towards Waridi Beach or hire a local motorbike taxi (boda boda) to take you directly to the entrance of Waridi Beach for an additional cost of approximately 200-300 Kenyan Shillings.

Boat

If you prefer a scenic route, you can take a boat from Lamu Town to Mokowe, which offers a unique view of the coastline. Boats leave regularly from the Lamu Old Town jetty. The boat ride takes about 30 minutes and costs around 300-500 Kenyan Shillings. Upon reaching Mokowe, you can hire a boda boda to take you to Waridi Beach or walk for about 30 minutes, as mentioned above.
