Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey in Pakse, the largest city in Champasak Province. Head southeast on Route 13 for about 15 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 16. Turn left onto Route 16 and continue for approximately 30 kilometers. Watch for signs indicating Sae Pong Lai Waterfall; you will need to turn right onto a smaller road. Follow this road for about 8 kilometers, which will lead you directly to the parking area near the waterfall. Parking is usually free, but be prepared for a small fee if you choose to park in a designated area.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Pakse to Hinlat. Buses leave regularly from the Pakse bus station and the fare is roughly 20,000 LAK (around $2). Once you arrive in Hinlat, you can hire a local tuk-tuk or motorbike taxi to take you to Sae Pong Lai Waterfall. The ride should take about 30 minutes and cost around 50,000 LAK (approximately $5). Make sure to negotiate the price before starting your journey. The driver should be familiar with the location as it is a popular tourist destination.

• Motorbike

  If you prefer more independence, consider renting a motorbike in Pakse. Rental shops are plentiful and prices generally range from 80,000 to 150,000 LAK per day (about $8-$15). Follow the same route as mentioned for cars; take Route 13 to Route 16, then follow the signs towards Sae Pong Lai Waterfall. The ride is scenic, and you’ll have the flexibility to stop along the way. When you arrive, there are usually areas available for motorbike parking.
