Boat
To reach Pak Ou Caves, start at the main boat dock in Luang Prabang, located near the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Look for a boat headed towards Pak Ou – these typically leave in the morning and early afternoon. Confirm with the boat operator that they stop at Pak Ou Caves. The journey takes about 1-1.5 hours and offers beautiful views of the riverside scenery. Once you arrive at the caves, you will disembark and walk a short distance to the entrance.

Tuk-Tuk
If you prefer a land route, you can take a tuk-tuk from central Luang Prabang to Pak Ou. Head to the main street (Sakkaline Road) and find a tuk-tuk driver near the night market or the Royal Palace Museum. Agree on a price before starting your trip. The ride to Pak Ou will take approximately 30-40 minutes. The driver will take you directly to the Pak Ou Caves entrance. Make sure to communicate that you want to visit the caves specifically.

Bicycle
For the more adventurous, renting a bicycle can be a great way to reach Pak Ou Caves. From the center of Luang Prabang, head north on Route 13. Follow the road along the Mekong River for about 25 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Pak Ou Caves as you approach the area. It will take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Once you arrive at the caves, you can park your bicycle in the designated area before exploring.
