Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Cēsis bus station, take local bus No. 5 towards Apšukalna. Get off at the 'Apšukalns' stop, which is the closest to Apšukalna iela. From there, walk approximately 1 km down Apšukalna iela to reach the trails. Bus tickets can be purchased at the station or directly from the driver for approximately €1-€2.

  • Walking

    If you are in Cēsis, you can walk to Cirulisi Nature Trails by heading northeast along Apšukalna iela. The walk is approximately 1.5 km and takes about 20-30 minutes. Enjoy the scenic views along the way.

  • Car

    From the center of Cēsis, take Apšukalna iela road heading northeast. Follow Apšukalna iela for about 1.5 km, and you will find the entrance to the Cirulisi Nature Trails on your left. There is parking available near the entrance. Parking fees may apply.

Cirulisi Nature Trails, located in the heart of Cēsis Municipality, offers visitors an immersive experience in Latvia's great outdoors. This national park features an extensive network of well-maintained trails that wind through lush forests and alongside the Gauja River. The trails reveal the history of the Gauja River valley from the Ice Age to the present day.The trails cater to all levels of hikers, from leisurely strolls to more challenging routes. Along the way, you can see fascinating natural objects, including the impressive Cīrulīšu cliffs, also called Spoguļu (Mirror) Cliffs, which beautifully reflect in the water. Other highlights include Dzidravots (Clear spring), a place to quench your thirst, and Līgavas (Bride) Cave, steeped in local legends.The trails pass remnants of the oldest luge track and introduce visitors to the natural and man-made history of the Gauja River valley since the end of the Ice Age. The area is particularly enchanting during autumn when the foliage transforms into vibrant colors.
