Discover more about Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kuldīga St. Anna

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Anna, located on Dzirnavu iela in Kuldīga, stands as a testament to the town's rich spiritual and architectural heritage. Completed in 1904, this Neo-Gothic church was built thanks to donations collected over 300 years. The church's red-brick facade and soaring spires make it a striking feature of Kuldīga's skyline. Inside, visitors can admire the spacious nave, adorned with elegant wooden beams and a beautifully crafted altar. Sunlight filters through stained glass windows, creating a serene ambiance. The church's interior also features decorative star-vaulted ceilings, a baptismal font donated in 1660, and an organ constructed by August Terkmanis, one of Estonia's finest organ builders. During World War II, the church's stained glass windows, which included depictions of the church and the old brick bridge, were removed and buried to protect them from potential damage. They were reinstalled seven years later. Two special chairs, one for the archbishop and another for the President of Latvia, also grace the altar area.
