Casino du Liban, situated on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in Jounieh, has been a symbol of luxury and entertainment in the Middle East since its opening on December 17, 1959. The casino was granted Lebanon's exclusive gaming license in July 1957, during a time of tourism and economic boom in the country. Its construction on a challenging landscape was a testament to vision and dedication, transforming a rocky hill into a lavish leisure destination.In its early years, Casino du Liban was known as the "Monaco of the Middle East", drawing in a jet-setting crowd from around the world. The Salle des Ambassadeurs, its renowned performance hall, hosted performances by Duke Ellington, Danny Thomas, and Julio Iglesias. The casino also attracted visits from King Hussein of Jordan, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and the Shah of Iran. The Miss Europe competition was held there between 1960 and 1965.The casino closed in 1989 during the Lebanese Civil War and underwent a $50 million reconstruction project before reopening in 1996. Today, Casino du Liban features around 400 slot machines and 60 gaming tables, along with a showroom, nightclub, theater, banquet facilities, and several restaurants. It continues to host events and performances, offering a wide selection of Lebanese and international experiences.
