Benghazi Zoo, locally known as Al Fuwayhat or Il Bosco, has been a fixture in Benghazi since its establishment in 1956. More than just a zoo, it functions as a combined zoological garden and tourist park, providing a green oasis within the city. The zoo is home to a variety of animals, including tigers, bears, elephants, horses, mountain goats, and deer. The enclosures are designed to mimic the animals' natural habitats, offering an educational experience for visitors. In addition to the animals, the park features an artificial lake, adding to its scenic appeal. Benghazi Zoo provides recreational games suitable for both adults and children, making it a popular destination for families. The park-like setting is ideal for leisurely strolls, picnics, and relaxation, offering a break from the urban environment. While some amusement park rides are currently out of service, there are plans to restart some of the safer ones. The zoo is open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM.
