The Heidiweg is more than just a hiking trail; it's an immersive experience that brings Johanna Spyri's Heidi novels to life. Starting from the Maienfeld railway station, the trail winds through the charming streets of the historic town, passing by magnificent fountains offering refreshing drinking water. As you leave the town behind, the path leads you through vineyards, a testament to the region's winemaking heritage.The trail gradually ascends towards Rofels and the Heidi Village (Heididorf), where goats await your arrival. Here, you can explore Heidi's House, a 300-year-old structure that inspired the story, and the Heidi Alp Cottage, a replica of Heidi's summer home with her grandfather. The Heidiweg then leads to the Hotel Restaurant Heidihof, boasting a panoramic terrace with stunning views. For the adventurous, a spiral staircase at the Heidihof leads to the top of an old oak tree, offering majestic views of the valley.The Heidiweg continues to Heidi's Fountain before winding back through picturesque alleys to the Maienfeld train station.
