Walking
From the center of Fianarantsoa, head towards Avenue de l'Indépendance. Walk straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Rue de l'Université. Turn right onto Rue de l'Université and continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass local shops and small eateries along the way. Keep an eye out for local signs and ask for directions to 'Ampasina' if needed. Continue straight until you reach the bus station at Sahambavy. At Sahambavy, look for a minibus heading towards Ampasina, which should take around 10 minutes. Once you arrive at Ampasina, walk approximately 500 meters to the northeast where you will find Arboretum Sakaiza located in Ambatomalama.
Public Transport
From Fianarantsoa, make your way to the main taxi-brousse station located on Avenue de l'Indépendance. Look for a taxi-brousse heading towards Sahambavy. The fare is usually around 1,000 Ariary. The journey should take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Sahambavy station, ask for the minibus or taxi-brousse going to Ampasina. After a 10-minute ride, get off at the Ampasina stop. From there, it's a short 500-meter walk to the northeast towards Arboretum Sakaiza. You may ask locals for specific directions if needed.
