Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the Hulls Cove Visitor Center, exit the center and head south on Route 3. Continue walking along the road until you reach the entrance to Acadia National Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs towards the Park Loop Road. After about 1.5 miles, you will reach the 'Sand Beach' area. From here, take the Great Head Trail to Dorr Mountain, which is approximately a 2-mile hike. The trailhead can be found at the southern end of Sand Beach. The hike features stunning coastal views and will take you to the summit of Dorr Mountain.

Public Transport
For those starting in Bar Harbor, you can catch the Island Explorer bus (which is free and operates seasonally) to the Sand Beach stop on the Park Loop Road.
