From the center of Timbuktu, head southwest on Avenue Moussa Tavele towards Rue de la République. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with Rue des Martyrs. Turn left onto Rue des Martyrs. After about 500 meters, keep an eye out for a small unmarked road on your right (this road leads directly to the mosque). Follow this road for another 300 meters. The Sidi Yahiya Mosque will be on your left, identifiable by its distinctive mud-brick architecture.

If you are using a shared taxi (often referred to as a 'taxi-brousse'), head to the main taxi station in Timbuktu, located near the town center. Board a taxi heading towards the historic sites. Inform the driver that you wish to visit Sidi Yahiya Mosque. The fare should be around 1,000 to 1,500 CFA francs (approximately $1.50 to $2.25). After about 10-15 minutes of travel, the taxi will drop you off near the mosque. From there, walk about 300 meters along the unmarked road leading to the mosque.
