From Tuxtla Gutiérrez, head to the main bus terminal (Terminal de Autobuses ADO). Purchase a ticket to San Cristóbal de las Casas, which takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in San Cristóbal, go to the local terminal (Terminal de Autobuses for local buses) and take a bus to the town of Comitán. The journey to Comitán will take around 1 hour. From Comitán, head to the main bus terminal and find a bus to Laguna de Montebello. This last leg takes about 40 minutes. Always check the schedules and confirm the routes with the staff at the terminals.

Collectivo (Shared Taxi)
If you prefer a faster option, you can take a collectivo from San Cristóbal de las Casas to Comitán. Collectivos depart from the main collectivo terminal in San Cristóbal, and the ride to Comitán takes about an hour. After arriving in Comitán, catch another collectivo towards Laguna de Montebello. This leg will take approximately 40 minutes. Collectivos are a great way to meet other travelers and often run more frequently than scheduled buses.
